Gingerbread House WIN!

Image
So I bought a 'fancy' gingerbread house this year...the deciding factor was that it came with gummies vs those hard candies (hello 3.5 and 2 yo).  That was a month ago. We finally opened it and started what I was expecting to be a frustrating process.  I usually need 8 hands, 4 hours, and a lot of luck to even get the house to stay together! Well cue my 'fancy' gingerbread house...it had puzzle like pieces - like log houses.  This made it SUPER EASY to put together, which took the stress out of this tradition for me! The kids were *dying* to eat the gummies and icing and it only took me 5 min or so to get the house up and standing WITH.THE.ROOF.ON!!! Insanity!  I split the icing into sandwich bags and cut one corner off so the boys each had their own icing bag. I also brought out some M&Ms (regular stay on better, peanut were a bit heavy for fresh icing).  For every candy that made it on the house, about 5 went into the kids mouths - it was perfect!  Ha...

Not their call...

Cottonwood, a local kid-friendly bar / restaurant just disappointed me...  A little girl left her  pink heart shaped ear muffs   at table when they left. The server picked them up and examined them...they had an ear part coming off, so she threw them away vs holding in lost and found. (Annoyance, but not why I'm upset). Less than 1 min later the mom comes hurriedly back in and asks about said ear muffs. The waitress proceeds to say she had NOT seen them and sorry...THEY WERE IN THE TRASH RIGHT BY THEM!!!!  She should have told the TRUTH and let mom decide if she dumpster dove or not...WTF. 😡😡😡 (Yes, I grabbed them and chased down mom who was happy to wash and sew said muffs bc were her daughters favorite...and Yes, I told a mgr...other than her talking to waitress no other action was promised).  My take away: pointedly ask if my lost item is in trash bc it may be (in the one right next to where you are standing)

Tree decor, Toddler version

A quick post to show off my 3.5 yo and 2 yo decorating style...started with my 3.5 yo putting whole sheets of construction paper into the tree...see top half! 🤣🤣🤣 Then we cut the star and the 3.5 yo put it up while being lifted up...he did great!  Then as the pieces of construction paper started to fall from their places, my OCD took over! I had the boys bring me paper that I cut and made into 'chains'...the color choices almost killed me. But I let it go and had the boys hang them where they wanted! (Soooo hard to not go and spread out the clusters!)  I think its beautiful, but I also want my pretty tree!

Farm life for City kids

Image
Is city life making you and the kids crazy?! Need room for them to run, clean air, and farm animals? We didnt realize how much we needed it!   This past weekend we stayed at the  Cottages on Mill Creek , (Round Top, Texas) and WOW it was AMAZING!!!  I could not have imagined a better get away that is within 1.5 hours of Houston!  We stayed in Bliss Cottage, which was perfect for our family of four.  A master bedroom, a futon in the living room, a bathroom, and kitchen.  There was a tv, but we never turned it on!  I also was not expecting such a fabulous breakfast...muffins, quishes, fruit, cheese, oh my!  We ate it for breakfast and lunch!   The activities were never ending!  The boys loved feeding the mini horses carrots that Sue (the owner) provided.  They got to fish for the first time...I think they scared the fish so much that if they could have jumped out of the water and run, the fish would have.  We walked onl...
